Yes.....the top mount can be notoriously hard to remove.

But...why are you changing them? Do you realise that the Galaxy has a floating strut design and the strut/bearing drops when lifting the car off the ground. This is normal and not a fault. It is often misdiagnosed by mechanics (often on purpose to get business) and sometimes by MOT testers - although not only should all testing take place with all wheels on the ground (on swivel plates), there is specific guidance in the MOT testers manual regarding these floating strut designs.

Its rare that Galaxy front strut mountings/bearings really fail.

yep as seatkid has said,if you do some research on here it has come up numerous times.had this on my old mk1 and mk2 gals aswell.and had an argument with the tester about it.

we all could pretty much guarantee theres nothing actually wrong with them?just the tester covering his crack.

On this topic, I once took my gal back to tyre fitters after they badly messed up my tracking. Claimed tracking was ok and then "looked for other causes" - having raised it up, they pointed out the apparent drop and claimed that was the reason - needless to say, I didn't use them again - took it to a reputable independent garage who confirmed the tracking performed by the monkeys was miles out.

Problem is the unnecessary expense that the unwary would pay to these people.
